Dene Brooks (President of Juniors NDRUC)

Dear Noosa Dolphin Supporter

My name is Peter Barnett and I am the Noosa Dolphins U11 Reds Manager. I am a passionate supporter of this great game and of our fantastic club. My son Harry(H) plays for the U11’s which makes his rugby a big and enjoyable part of my life.

At the start of the 2012 season I approached Dene Brooks at the Dolphins with a proposal. The Proposal with the support of the club was to recycle all your old rugby boots. That’s it I would like all last years used Rugby Boots. The proposal is to set up a donation, collection, freight and distribution network that would support rugby players less fortunate than us. We are going to donate to rugby clubs in Australia and the Pacific. The idea was a simple one and the plan was to have the club support it. I am grateful to now have the support of the committee.

I have spent a great deal of time and have enlisted some great minds to help me with this project and now I have a huge favour to ask.  I would like you all to help me if you can. Over the first weeks of the start of the junior season I will be supplying a Wheelie Collection Bin throughout the junior training on Friday nights. This will start from Friday 27th April.  I will also have the Collection Bin on site for the senior home games.

For your part all I ask is that you are to look deep into the shoe cupboard or out in the corner of the garage and think about giving up your Boots for the Pacific.

I will also collect shoulder pads and headgear and the jumper that no longer fits.

Please be mindful that the used item is of fair condition and to be able to be used by someone else.

We are collating a group of clubs that have met our certain criteria who are in need of the used items and our support. We will announce in the near future who these clubs are.

Please contact me if you would like to donate or would like to be part of something good. My contact details are , Mobile 0429 180 167.

Thankyou

 Peter Barnett

Qld Reds & Noosa Dolphins score Victory’s at Suncorp

In front of a strong crowd of 31,479 the Qld Reds held a lead at halftime courtesy of a two tries to Test backrower Scott Higginbotham. This ‘Curtain Raiser’ had the Queensland Reds leaving the Suncorp Stadium field up by 14 to 0 over the Brumbies at half time on Good Friday.  Amy Brice scores in the corner during halftime game at REDS V BRUMBIESIt was then up to the Noosa Dolphins U10’s to show some class as they ran on for the Main Event, the ‘Half Time Match’. The Noosa players were primed as they sprinted out from the tunnel to confront the North Brisbane Eagles. From the outset the Noosa forwards of Seb and Harry drove the ball forward in bulldozer fashion.  Quick offloads to Flankers Leo and Sacha keep the momentum up against the larger Eagles pack.  With the field heavily congested with Eagles players, Dolphins backs Tane and Connor worked and stepped up the blind alleys looking for breaks.  Halfback Mat retrieved an offload from backrower Corey but was confronted with Eagle defenders. Again Seb stole the breakdown ball and offloaded to Noosa 8 Lawson who ran wide looking for space. Lawson found winger flying Amy moving up fast in attack and sent her the ball. Amy collected and then hit the after burners scoring a long range try in the far corner in the 5th minute, leaving the Eagles in her wake to the cheers of the Noosa parents and the Suncorp crowd. The final minute saw the Eagles attacking the Noosa line but strong defence by the Dolphins held theEagles out and scoreless.

A huge half time victory, and an even bigger experience for the Noosa Dolphins U10’s. Thanks goto retiring development officer Doug Toms for providing a memorable SuperXV experience for these young Noosa players.
